The Advanced Story Point System (ASPS)
A downloadable game
ASPS: The Advanced Story Point System, and its diceless variant, ASPS-D, are flexible game systems that are designed to provide you with the tools needed to create a campaign in any genre. By using the Shell System, the game master creates and defines the type of world they wish to run, and can set a specific tone or feel to their game. The various settings coming out for ASPS use the same core engine, but provide different Shells that the game master can use or draw inspiration from. For example, a horror game may have a fear mechanic by using an attribute called “Resolve”. A fantasy setting may introduce magic by creating either a fixed spell list, or by providing a Shell that will let players create their own spells on the fly. A third Shell could provide players with cybernetics that can augment the characters, while providing an “Integrity” attribute to provide a limit on the number of modifications the character can take. None of these changes alter the core engine itself, which can allow a character from one Shell to plug into another Shell with virtually no changes. Another benefit to the ASPS system is that the players and game master can switch from using dice to going completely diceless (ASPS-D) without altering the character sheet. The players can use their characters using either system, or can even switch between them – for example, going diceless if the actions a character takes is contested (such as combat), while switching to dice when actions are not opposed (taking risks).
